WHY LOCAL MATTERS
Following the 2026 Victorian state election, the Government will determine if country school bus contracts are re-negotiated with current operators.
There are many reasons why local operators are the best choice to run country school bus services.
The Victorian bus and coach industry employs over 2,000 regional Victorians and supports 18,000 Victorian businesses. That means local money stays in local pockets.
And each and every school day, close to 70,000 students get to school on a locally run bus, with drivers who understand local roads and the needs of local families.
Locally owned operators keep jobs, money and expertise in the region. Hand these services to offshore operators, and that value walks out the door.

You might not only be the local bus driver, you'd be the local footy coach, the local Lions Club member, president of the turf club."

"As a parent, you probably can't really put a price on being able to talk to your bus driver. The people trust them. They can be contacted at any time of the day. You get to know all the kids, you get to know all the parents. It's like a family friend is taking the kids into school."
SUPPORTING THE LOCAL ECONOMY
"The bus operators here are locals to our community. They're raised here, they go to school here.
More importantly, they all spend their money back in our community. It has to be two to three hundred jobs and families are getting supported through the local bus industry.
Country people know country people. Country people help country people out."
